Febuxostat is in a class of medications called xanthine oxidase inhibitors which works by decreasing the amount of uric acid that is made in the body. it is used to prevent gout attacks but not to treat them once they occur.
Indications:
hyperuricemia in patients with gout.
Precautions:
Gout flare may occur
Dose: Tabs 40-80mg once daily.
