

World health organization (WHO) defines overweight and obesity as follows. An overweight is someone with a BMI greater than or equal to 25(25-29.9) and obesity is a BMI greater than or equal to 30.

Overweight keeps one in danger of developing diseases such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and atherosclerosis (where fatty deposits narrow your arteries) which could lead to coronary heart disease and stroke, nerve damage, kidney disease etc.
