Devils Claw is native to the southern regions of Africa and gets its name from the hooks which cover its fruit. It is a traditional folk remedy of tribal African peoples and has also been used by Europeans and North Americans. Devils Claw is abundant in naturally occurring bioactive compounds including harpagoside, phytosterols, phenolic acids and flavonoids (kaempferol).
