Bempetol EZ is a prescription medication combining two active ingredients: bempedoic acid (180 mg) and ezetimibe (10 mg)

The bempedoic acid component works in the liver by inhibiting the enzyme ATP-citrate lyase (ACL), which is involved in cholesterol synthesis.

The ezetimibe component works in the small intestine by inhibiting the Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) transporter, thereby reducing absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol.

Together, these dual mechanisms allow Bempetol EZ to lower low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C, i.e., “bad” cholesterol) via both reduced production and reduced absorption.

Uses and Indications

Bempetol EZ is used to manage high cholesterol (hyperlipidaemia) in certain adult patients. Specifically:

For elevated LDL cholesterol in adults when diet and lifestyle changes alone are insufficient

As additional therapy for patients with established cardiovascular disease (CVD) or heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) who need further LDL-C lowering beyond other therapies

It is particularly relevant in patients who may be statin-intolerant or in whom statins alone do not bring LDL to target.

How to Use Bempetol EZ

Take one tablet once daily, with or without food.

It’s important to continue taking Bempetol EZ even if you feel well, because cholesterol-lowering is usually a long-term strategy

If you miss a dose: take it as soon as you remember unless it is very close to the next scheduled dose—do not double up to make up
