Cafergot (ergotamine tatrate 1mg /caffeine 100mg)-30tablets

Cafergot contains 1 mg ergotamine tatrate and 100 mg caffeine as active ingredients. Ergotamine is an antimigraine drug which belong to a group of medicines called “ergot alkaloids”. Caffeine on the other hand increases the absorption of ergotamine in the body.

indication:

Acute attacks of migraine (classical migraine) and  vascular headache

Dosage:

2 tablets (ergotamine 2 mg/caffeine 200 mg) po at first sign of migraine attack; may take 1 tablet (ergotamine 1 mg/caffeine 100 mg). A second dose may be taken when necessary, if symptoms reappear, as long as there is an interval of at least 2 to 3 hours between the two doses. Swallow the tablets with some water

Not to exceed 6 tablets/attack

Not to exceed 10 tablets/week

Precautions

not recommended in patients aged under 12 years or over 65 years.

only indicated for the treatment of acute migraine attacks and not for prevention.

Continued daily use or its use in excess of the recommended doses must be avoided since it may cause vasospasm
