Instructions for using the Spiriva HandiHaler
- Open the HandiHaler: Hold the base of the HandiHaler with one hand and flip the mouthpiece open with the other hand.
- Load the capsule: Open the orange-colored cap of the HandiHaler, and place one Spiriva capsule in the chamber.
- Close the HandiHaler: Close the orange cap until you hear a click.
- This will pierce the capsule and allow the powder to be released when you inhale.
- Inhale the medication: Hold the HandiHaler with the mouthpiece facing you and exhale fully.
- Put the mouthpiece between your lips and inhale deeply and forcefully.
- Breathe out: Remove the HandiHaler from your mouth and hold your breath for as long as comfortable before exhaling.
- Close the HandiHaler: Open the HandiHaler, remove the used capsule, and close it securely.
